A teenager who fired a gun at another youth’s home ended up in the same prison cell as his victim.

An ‘administration error’ led to Liverpool teenagers Lewis Clarke and William Cowley being placed in the same cell shortly after Clarke shot at Cowley’s house.

A week after the shooting, Cowley stabbed a suspected associate of Clarke, leaving him fighting for his life, and was arrested.

But prison authorities placed the two feuding youths in the same cell – leading to Clarke attacking Cowley and leaving him hospitalised, the Liverpool Echo reported.

William Cowley, 17, stabbed a boy leaving him fighting for his life after a gang war shooting in Formby.

The dispute had started when Clarke, 18, accused autistic Cowley, 17, of stealing cigarettes.

The string of violent incidents happened in May 2015.

But it has only just come to light that the pair shared a cell in Werrington Prison, Stoke-on-Trent, in which Cowley was seriously injured by Clarke.

Clarke, of Southport Road, Formby, has now been sentenced to seven and a half years in a Young Offenders Institution.

He admitted possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possessing a firearm and two counts of possessing bullets.

Last August, Cowley, of Gardner Road, Formby, was jailed for five years.
